DU QUOIN — Du Quoin notched two wins at home against Herrin Saturday, 5-3 and 4-1 respectively. However, the Indians and Tigers were both winners in that, the games could only be played thanks to Du Quoin’s turf field. The doubleheader was originally scheduled to be played in Herrin, but the field was still too soaked from rain earlier in the week.
Du Quoin baseball coach Kyle Geiger says the turf allows his players to get outside and play or practice more often than not.
The Indians will travel to Red Bud to start the new week, but then will have two more home games against Goreville and Chester later this week.
