IHSA Leaders Holding Out Hope for Spring Sports Season

ILLINOIS — Schools are closed through the end of April, but IHSA leaders are hopeful that a spring sports season will still happen, even if it is a shortened campaign.

IHSA Assistant Executive Director Matt Troha says the board of directors has already given the unofficial green light to let spring sports go later into June if needed.

Troha says the association wants to keep hope, especially for those seniors who wouldn’t get a senior season if spring sports were to be cancelled, but the IHSA also recognizes that completely cancelling spring sports may have to happen for the health and safety of all involved.
