MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Rams track and field teams are transitioning from the indoor season to the outdoor season and they have plenty of competition upcoming.
For the boys, they will be at Eastern Illinois University later this afternoon for one of the final indoor meets of the season. Mt. Vernon boys track and field coach Clint Turner says with a lot of kids returning, the focus now is improving the kids’ performance’s instead of finding the best role for each athlete.
In addition to the kids returning, Turner says the boys’ freshman class is one of the biggest he’s had in more than a decade, with 23 freshmen out for track and field this season.
