SOUTHERN ILLINOIS — The River-to-River Conference’s Mississippi Division in recent years has featured some of the best small school softball in the state. While the conference may not be as good as year’s past, the competition in the division is better than ever.
Carterville softball coach Will Capie says most teams in the division are fairly young.
Nashville softball coach Shaun Renth agrees, saying anyone in the conference could take home the title.
Nashville beat Carterville on the road Tuesday 3-1. Pinckneyville sits at the top of the division with a 7-1 record, but their remaining schedule includes facing the Hornettes and the Lady Lions.
