West Frankfort Boys Golf Team Falls Four Shots Short of Trip to State Tournament

WEST FRANKFORT — The West Frankfort Boys Golf team came up four shots short of sending their team to the state Class 1A state tournament this year. Carmi overcame a deficit and sent West Frankfort home by taking third place and scoring 327 compared to the Redbirds’ 331.

Redbirds Boys Golf Coach Mike Karoski says it’s a bittersweet end to a great season led by five seniors.

Sophomore Tyson Elko did make it to state as an individual for the Redbirds. He shot a 76 placing him fourth overall at the St. Anthony sectional Monday.
